Why don't my papers say, "Miniature Australian Shepherd?"

Because AKC does not recognize the size of the Miniature Australian Shepherd at this time all registration papers say "Australian Shepherd".

Your puppy carries the genes of the standard, the DNA of the fathers, the quality of the true Aussie. In other registries you do not have the guarantee that the lines are pure. With the AKC breeding you do have that guarantee. Our puppies have always been the Australian Shepherd breed, just smaller all the time. Therefore you are getting a true Aussie in temperament, in instinctive abilities, in intelligence, in trainability, and in eagerness to please.

We strongly suggest "Pet Training" beginning with puppy kindergarten. After that there are lots of classes and training levels. Because you have an AKC registered puppy, you are eligible to compete in agility, herding, fly-ball, obedience, and all youth classes. Breed classes will hopefully be open in the future. Right now we can show, however some judges are discounting the minis because of their size. We hope that change will happen as the minis grow in quality and demand.
