Confused about registries?

Our Miniature Aussies are registered with either the American Kennel Club (AKC), the National Stock Dog Registry (NSDR), America 's Pet Registry (APRI) or the Miniature Australian Shepherd Club (MASC).

The following are the differences in the clubs:

MASC: This organization offers conformation titles for Miniature Australian Shepherds. They also keep a data base of pedigrees and allow AKC, NCA, NSDR & AKC dogs that are below standard in height to be registered. MASC recognizes all points of various registries that have show venues. You can read more about it by going to their web page at www.mascaonline.org

AKC: While AKC does not recognize the mini aussie in the breed (conformation) show ring, they do allow the miniature in all other areas including Herding, Obedience, Agility and Companion events. If the Miniature is AKC registered, the club allows the dog to be titled. If the Miniature is registered solely with another organization (NSDR, MASC, ect) it only allows for titles when the dog is neutered or spayed. MASC recognizes all points from AKC. All of our Standard Aussies, Schnauzers and Welsh Terriers are AKC registered along with most of our Miniature Australian Shepherds. ( www.akc.org )

NSDR: Register's dogs of the herding varieties if they have proof of pedigree.

APRI: This organization registers pets only if a pedigree can be proven or other registration is provided. They have a show venue for conformation classes only. We show and register our show dogs with America 's Pet Registry (APRI) so that we can compete in this venue. It's lots of fun and a great place for beginners and pet owners to educate themselves. MASC nor AKC at this time do not recognize points awarded from this organization. You can register your dog for competition by faxing a copy of their papers to APRI ( www.aprpets.org ) Fax: 479-299-4417

IABCA: This organization allows MASC (Miniature Australian Shepherd Club) to use their show venue to gain points towards Championships. The International American Rare Breed Association gives titles including National & International Champion. We use this venue to show conformation classes. ( www.iabca.com )
